A look at the State Library Victoria’s Recent Events

Since the reopening of the new State Library Victoria in December 2019, we’ve held a number of great events. From grand dinners to open days and weddings, the Library and its spaces have quickly become the talk of Melbourne’s event industry.

Take a look at just some of the recent events that have taken place at the State Library Victoria.

Uncover Melbourne ‘Hosted Buyers’ Gala

For three years Showtime Event Group has held the ‘Hosted Buyers’ Uncover Melbourne event as a part of the Asia-Pacific Incentives Meetings Event (AIME). And this years was the biggest yet. Activating the forecourt and bluestone steps of the library with amazing entertainment and red carpet arrival, with hundreds of the general public gathering to see the spectacle.

Before event festivities continued through the Swanston Street pillars to The Ian Potter Queen’s Hall.

A Hogwarts Wedding

A literary location calls for a literary wedding. December saw the library’s first Harry Potter styled wedding with a ceremony and reception along with a photography tour throughout. With great commitment from the lovely couple and guests alike.

Officiated by one of the two Dumbledore’s in attendance in the North Rotunda as the couples read their vows in front of their friends and family before festivities began in the Isabella Fraser Room. Long tables lined the room, each belonging to a house, of which guests were assigned on entry, seated under each respective banner.

The evening then kicked off after speeches and continued all night with dancing and applause from all.

Showtime Event Group Client Drinks

In January, friends of Showtime were invited to the Library as a big thank you for their ongoing support throughout 2019 and as an opportunity for clients and suppliers to let their hair down and relax. Greeted with cocktails and canapes in the Conversation Quarter before MC Brihony took the stage in The Ian Potter Queen’s Hall, getting the crowd riled up for a serious dance.
