A New Year Tradition

A masked kiss from a stranger at midnight on New Years Eve is the stuff rom-coms are made of, right? Well, Natasha and Matthew seemed to want to make that a reality.

The pair met when they were ‘kinda’ young over an online hook up which at the time, they say wasn’t really a thing. What started off as a casual friendship turned quickly when Matt asked Natasha to officially be his girlfriend at 12 on New Years eve the year they met. Matthew thought it would be fitting that he ask her to become his wife on New Years eve and keep the tradition afloat. So, as the fireworks were ablaze, he popped the question on one knee on the 11th year of their relationship, surrounded by their closest family and friends.

The pair wanted to find a venue that could compliment their traditional cathedral ceremony. They remember falling in love with Showtime Events Centre as soon as they were taken in for a viewing. The clincher? The iconic Chandelier Bar. The contemporary vibe that was still full of character and historical charm along the Yarra River meant that Showtime Event Centre made their wedding dreams come true.

Natasha and Matthew were super impressed by the menu tasting that Showtime Event Group hosted prior to the wedding. The couple note that the dinner, where they both brought their dads along (two avid foodies) meant that they could experience the food and the venue in an intimate setting, and really helped the planning process. Another great part of planning was the assistance from Rachel, their event producer, who got through all of the ‘nitty gritty’ as they like to say.

Tash reminisces that she couldn’t find anything that was her ‘perfect’ dress off the rack, so she worked with Josephine from Romeo Bastone Couture closely to turn her vision in to a beautiful Italian Silk and French beaded lace masterpiece. Matt was decked out in a custom 3-piece black tuxedo. The tailor had the right balance of modern flair and timeless sophistication in it’s construction.

A super high, single tier cake was adorned in white pearls, and featured a custom black and gold cake stopper by Lina at Sweetly Styled. The couple arrived in style in a classic Rolls Royce and the remainder of the bridal party were in a Porsche Limo.

A massive hit with the guests was the arrival Lychee Sour, but the fun ramped up when the couple poured the last two bottles of the champagne tower. No one complained at the late night beef sliders whilst hitting up the dancefloor, and everyone busted a move late in to the night.
