The State Library Victoria is an untouched wedding venue in the heart of Melbourne.
Behind its beautiful facade lays an array of spaces available for wedding ceremonies, perfect for couples after history, exemplary architecture, and class all in the one location.
Briefly speaking to Showtime Event Group’s Senior Wedding Producer Karinda Mathison about the recent ceremony of Eliza & Jeremy in the Isabella Fraser Room and what draws couples to have their ceremony at the State Library.
Why do people choose the State Library for their ceremonies?
It is such an iconic landmark, it will forever be here and will be somewhere where their grandkids will be able to visit.
As well as the building itself it holds such incredible architecture and history
What have you found that couples find unique about the space?
Location, being in the heart of the CBD there is so many incredible photo opportunities all within a one block radius. The ‘old world feel’ also seems to be a common phrase I hear, I think due to its history and the fact very few buildings exist in Melbourne like this one.
The Isabella Fraser Room itself celebrates yet protects couples from Melbourne’s sometimes inhospitable elements with its large feature windows. While being a black canvas with stunning bones (large parquetry floorboards, ornate feature door, and high ceilings)
What did you find interesting about Eliza & Jeremy’s day?
We love that this couple viewed the ceremony to be just as important as the reception
Many couples try and rush this component of the day, forgetting that this is what it’s all about!
No detail was too small, and no stone left unturned with Eliza and Jeremy.
To end, guests had champagne which really added to the black-tie high-end feel, giving guests that touch of class before the real festivities began.
Were there any photo opportunities after the ceremony?
Of course! The couple was taken around to the various areas of the library for some one of a kind shots without anybody else around.
