A botanical beginning

Andrew proposed on Christmas Day during what Lindzay calls “a very nervous walk through the beautiful St Kilda Botanical Gardens.” The moment unfolded surrounded by rose bushes and greenery, creating a dreamy and emotional experience. “It was the most incredible moment—filled with so many happy tears, overwhelming joy, and the magic of the Christmas season.” Afterward, they celebrated the day with friends and family and went on to have “one of the best summer holidays ever.”

Beauty, romance and charm

The couple always imagined a garden wedding in the heart of Melbourne, and “from the moment we walked through the gates of Rippon Lea Estate, we were surrounded by beauty, romance, and charm.” With the ceremony in the lush gardens and the reception in the grand Ballroom, the venue was “everything we had envisioned and more.

They loved that everything could take place in one location. “One of our top priorities was ensuring that our family and friends had the best time possible—without the hassle of traveling between venues.” The fairy-lit Pool Terrace added a final magical touch to the celebration.

A palette of moody romance

The couple chose a colour palette that reflected “moody romance,” combining “dark reds with soft pastel pinks and a touch of white.” Lindzay described how “the deep, rich reds added a sense of drama and passion, while the pastel pinks brought a soft, delicate touch.

Their florist Ruby from Shadyhill Luxury Flowers “created a beautiful bridal bouquet and stunning centerpieces that perfectly captured the essence of our colour palette and romantic theme.

A menu to remember

We had always heard that Rippon Lea Estate has some of the best wedding food around,” Lindzay shared — and it delivered. The menu from Showtime Event Group featured antipasto platters, entrees, rotating mains, and standout side dishes. “One of the standout dishes was the 8-hour braised lamb rib with cumin labneh, mint, chili, and crispy chickpeas—so flavourful, and it was an absolute hit with our guests!” Late-night mini burgers were a hit, and for dessert, they chose something personal. “A gelato cart felt more us—fun, different, and a bit more relaxed!

Moments that will stay with us

The First Look was one of the most emotional and unforgettable moments,” Lindzay recalled. “It was just the two of us, sharing a private moment before the whirlwind of the day began.” Their ceremony, surrounded by “breathtaking gardens and timeless charm,” was another deeply personal highlight.

The evening ended on a high with live music. “The energy and fun that flowed through our nearest and dearest along with everyone dancing and celebrating with us, was such a lively and fun moment. It was a perfect end to our special day.

Love in reflection: Advice from the happy couple

“Don’t rush through the moments. Whether it’s the first look, walking down the aisle, or sharing a quiet moment together after the ceremony, take it all in.” Lindzay also shared, “Everyone, including your suppliers and the team, are there to ensure you have the best day possible so trust them.” Most importantly? “Enjoy every moment and be present.”
