The Enchanting Wedding of Effie and James

Welcome to the enchanting fairy tale wedding of Effie Kats and James Cerolini. Inspired by the eternal romance of Paris, the event exuded glamour and elegance, unfolding like a love letter to the City of Light. Join us as we reminisce on this sumptuous, star-studded affair.

The planning began in August 2021 after James proposed during lockdown. They shared a strong vision for the day from the start, backed by the bride’s background in luxury fashion design. “I’ve attended so many events,” Effie told Confidential, “and we wanted to create something truly spectacular for our guests.”

They opted for a spring ceremony at the inimitable St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Melbourne’s CBD, inspired by the venue’s soaring Gothic Revival interior. The pews were filled with 260 elated guests, many designers and celebrities in their own right.

Effie donned a jaw-dropping lace Zuhair Murad gown, complete with a dramatic train and sweeping embroidered veil. She traveled to Paris to find her dream dress, and after visiting several couture houses, stopped at Murad’s 1st arrondissement store last. The sales assistants gasped in unison as she emerged from the changing room, and she knew in that magical moment she had found ‘the one.’ Between wedding planning and several more trips to Paris for fittings, the bride even found time to design the bridesmaid dresses – intricate black silk corsets with matching skirts that could be worn together or separately.

After exchanging vows at the altar, attendees were welcomed into the iconic State Library of Victoria’s Ian Potter Queen’s Hall for a traditional sit-down reception. The venue matched the romantic Parisian theme perfectly, with soaring Corinthian pillars, marble stairs, vaulted ceilings and timber parquet floors.

Previously closed to the public but now fully restored to its original heritage grandeur, the hall transformed into a mirage of delicate crystalware, white roses and ambient pillar candles – the perfect canvas for a party.

Inspired by French bistro cuisine, SEG curated and catered the meal, offering delicacies like kingfish ceviche, steak au poivre and 18-hour braised lamb ribs. A slice of the dreamy three-tiered buttercream cake completed the indulgent meal, leaving guests refreshed and ready to dance.

After the bride changed into a custom Alin Lekal dress, DJ Perri Lee kicked off the party with a musical journey through the decades. With great food, plenty of drinks, and the best of company, the night unfolded into a whirlwind of dancing and delight.

We’re so honoured to have been a part of this incredible journey and wish the newlyweds a lifetime of joy. Congratulations to Effie and James!

Elevating Corporate Networking Events with Unparalleled Venue Excellence

Showtime Event Group’s Aerial venue is the ultimate destination for corporate events. Below we focus on the Visit Victoria annual Destination Victoria conference networking party. By showcasing Aerial’s unique features, seamless event coordination, and incorporation of local elements, let us demonstrate how Aerial sets the stage for exceptional corporate experiences.

Event Overview
The Visit Victoria annual Destination Victoria conference networking party brought together Victoria’s tourism and events industry, offering a platform for professionals to connect and collaborate. With the conference held during the day at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), Aerial’s strategic location and outstanding amenities made it the ideal choice for the networking event.

Event Theme & Styling
The event theme was Our Land, Our Locals — connecting our people, our land and each other to the things that make Victoria great. Showtime Event Group supplier Botanics Melbourne utilised natives and natural fibres such as bark and branches in the styling of the venue, along with  the custom floral installations throughout the venue.

Strategic Location
Aerial’s proximity to MCEC, the CBD, public transport, parking, and hotels made it incredibly convenient for attendees. This close connection allowed for a seamless transition from the conference to the networking event, ensuring maximum engagement and participation.

Unparalleled Venue Features
Aerial’s standout features added an extra touch of allure to the event. Its prime location offered breathtaking 360 skyline views, providing a stunning backdrop for networking and fostering an unforgettable atmosphere. The venue’s state-of-the-art audio-visual capabilities, managed by Scene Change, ensured a seamless integration of technology, enhancing presentations and entertainment.

Embracing First Peoples and Local Suppliers
The event celebrated Victoria’s cultural diversity by incorporating First Peoples and local suppliers. This inclusivity was primarily achieved through the careful selection of products and suppliers, creating an authentic and meaningful experience for attendees.
Kiernan Ironfiled, a Dharug man and a professional Yidaki/Didgeridoo player, greeted guests in the foyer with a feature performance. Miss Dee, a Melbourne based singer, guitarist and DJ, entertained guests with an ambient acoustic set and her infectious energy and stage presence.
Styling elements, including florals inspired by First Nations, added a touch of cultural significance to the event, reflecting the commitment to honouring local traditions.

Captivating Culinary Experiences
The cocktail event at Aerial showcased interactive food stations, including a wok station and a create-your-own dessert station. These culinary experiences engaged attendees, stimulating networking discussions and creating a memorable experience. Native treats from PAWA, a local Indigenous supplier, were featured at a dedicated food station, celebrating Victoria’s rich Indigenous heritage. Taka Gin Co. offered First Nations inspired gin, featuring native botanicals.

Stylish Event Enhancements
Dann Event Hire provided modern furniture with orange earthy tones, complementing Aerial’s luxurious ambiance. The staging options, tailored to different styles of entertainment, allowed for seamless transitions and captivating performances. The grand entrance created by the venue’s stairs added a touch of grandeur, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience from the moment guests arrived.

The End Result
By seamlessly integrating strategic location, exceptional venue features, captivating culinary experiences, and the incorporation of local elements, Aerial delivered a truly elevated and memorable experience for corporate clients. Aerial’s commitment to excellence and attention to detail solidifies its position as the unrivalled after-party destination for events held at MCEC.

EOFY Party Checklist

How To Stay On Top Of Planning Your Dream Office Celebration!

The end of the financial year is a time for reflection, celebration and appreciation.  While many look forward to the work Christmas party, an EOFY celebration is the perfect opportunity to show your employees how much you value them. By throwing an unforgettable party, you can not only celebrate the accomplishments of the past year, but strengthen company culture and inspire employees to set their sights on the future.

Our team of award-winning Showtime Event Group producers are dedicated to providing an unparalleled service that will handle every aspect of your event, from catering and desirable Melbourne venues to staffing and entertainment. Whether you’re planning an intimate gathering or an elaborate extravaganza, our experienced specialists will work with you to tailor a package that fits your business needs and budget.

We understand that planning a party can be stressful. With a wealth of corporate event experience, our team of producers have collated a handy checklist of things to consider while curating the office party of your wildest dreams.

1 – Brainstorm

Four to six months out, it’s time to start envisioning the celebration. This is the perfect opportunity to brainstorm with other members of the party planning team and throw around ideas that inspire. First, set a budget and guest list. Are you dreaming of a large event where guests can network freely or a small intimate gathering for core staff? Are you drawn to a no-holds-barred celebration or looking to save where you can? Do you want to give guests an excuse to dust off their floor-length gowns and tuxedos or relax with a casual setting and laid-back atmosphere?

This is the time to Pinterest to your heart’s delight, connect with colleagues and get a sense of what best suits your company’s needs. By determining budget and goals early on, you’re on your way to creating a seamless event that doesn’t blow the bank or inflate beyond control. An Showtime Event Group producer can help refine your ideas, tailor a budget and curate an aesthetic for your EOFY celebration. Plus, with the aid of our team’s expertise, you’re bound to come out the other side with complete peace of mind.

2 – Start Booking Venues

Two to four months before the bash is the ideal time to contact venues and solidify your vision for the event. Start considering how your chosen venue could enhance the day and align with the party’s overall vibe. Accessibility, aesthetic and location are absolutely paramount, and with a diverse venue portfolio spanning both inner and outer Melbourne, the Showtime Event Group team can help you secure your dream setting with ease. Even better, our specialists have the best connections and lead times to secure ideal dates without compromise.

Are you picturing an elegant black-tie evening in the mahogany halls of the State Library? An interactive cocktail party at Old Melbourne Gaol? A garden party at Rippon Lea Estate? A modern sit-down dinner gala at Aerial? No matter your flavour, our venue portfolio has something to suit everyone. Our venues are also easily accessible by car or public transport and can be adapted for both indoor and outdoor events. What’s not to love?

This is also a good time to book photographers and any entertainment such as DJs, bands or dancers as they tend to book out first!

3 – Send Out Invitations And Finalise The Menu

You’re two months out and it’s finally time to fill up the event. Send out invites early to ensure maximum attendance and make sure to set a firm RSVP date. If you work across multiple locations, email invites are a handy way to make sure the details don’t go astray. Take a stance on the attendance of plus ones and children or family members depending on your desired party size. Consider your venue when sending out invitations as most have a cap on maximum capacity and make sure to follow up with guests if they don’t respond to the RSVP for catering purposes. It’s also a good time to finalise seating plans if the event is a sit-down experience.

Speaking of catering, two months out is an ideal time to taste test menu selections and make cuisine decisions. Our SEG caterers have a range of mouth-watering options to leave guests raving. Our menus are diverse, delicious and fully customisable. All menus are available on individual plates or share plates at no extra cost and can incorporate additional dishes at your request. Our plated menus can be substituted for Asian-inspired, Greek-inspired or plant-based cuisine – as well as upgraded to a multi-course Indian or Asian-style banquet. We also have kosher and halal options available. Likewise, if you fancy breaking the traditional sit-down dinner setting, we now offer lunch, brunch and cocktail menus to suit every setting.

4 – Start Solidifying Decor And Aesthetic

Ultimately, a party’s vibe is paramount. One month out is a good time to arrange decor, furniture and other party essentials like gift bags. If you’re sourcing your own florals and centrepieces, secure vendors and arrange transportation. If you fancy a stress-free option, let SEG event producers track down decor to suit any event to a tee. Ambience and atmosphere are our bread and butter, so if in doubt, chat with us about how we can transform your party into an event to remember.

EOFY parties are the perfect time to think outside the box, so have fun with your decor! Try a cosy nook of armchairs for guests to chat in or a fun photo booth for memories that last a lifetime.

5 – Make A Run Sheet

Once you have guests confirmed, a venue secured, decor organised and menus tested, it’s time to write up a run sheet of events. One month to three weeks out is a great time to plan the flow of events and ensure a seamless experience. Depending on your party plan, you might want to open the event with formalities and a toast from senior management. EOFY is the perfect time to recognise the hard work of staff members and boost team morale by acknowledging their wins.

If you have entertainment and meals planned, incorporate this into the run sheet so event staff are aware. You might even consider printing a flow of events for guests so they know when to expect certain activities such as team-bonding or cocktail hour.

6 – Last Minute Details

One to two weeks out and the event is fast approaching. How exciting! Now is the time to check in with suppliers, liaise with your party planner, finalise last-minute RSVPs and confirm a head count with caterers. If you’re planning on picking up or transporting items to the venue, keep those dates clear and communicate your movements with venue staff. Conduct a final walk-through and inspection of the venue, create a contact list of key personnel, finalise any official speeches and prepare any necessary signage.

7 – Time To Party!

After arriving at the venue early to set up or letting your party planning team take that responsibility off your hands, it’s time to enjoy the event! Greet guests as they arrive and provide any necessary information as it arises, like the location of the toilets or where they are seated. Our SEG producers pride themselves on removing the stress from your day and handling any mid-event occurrences so you can party with your colleagues in complete peace.

So relax and raise a glass of bubbly – you deserve it!

Expert Wedding Tips with Ella, Wedding & Event Producer

Showtime Event Group’s Wedding & Event Producer Ella shares her tips on themes, styling and stress free weddings in 2023.

What is your favourite styling trend at the moment and why?
I am loving floral wedding dresses. Think Sophia Bush & Grant Hughes.

What are the best ways to incorporate a vibrant colour palette into a wedding theme?
It could be as simple as adding colour into your bouquets or centrepieces, although I really love a bold bridesmaid dress colour, bold colour lip or a statement pair of shoes.

What are some tips or suggestions that you give to couples when classifying their design style?
Research! There is so much information out there to help you classify what kind of wedding style you want. In saying that, there are no rules with weddings or designs. You can really make it your own. So, you want a modern reception with a more traditional ceremony style? Go for it! Or you love the look of an industrial space but want a touch of elegance in your styling? Do it! 2023 is the year to break the rules!

What are some often overlooked details couples can forget in the lead up to the special day?
To have fun and not get too focused on the things that aren’t exactly as you had planned or have had to change last minute. It will only make you stressed, and it’s likely your guests won’t notice or have any idea what you had planned anyway!

What is the most unique wedding favour that you’ve seen?
I had a couple who loved to travel but were limited during the lockdowns in Melbourne during the pandemic. Coincidentally, they were also planning their wedding during this time. They gathered photos of themselves at key landmarks around the world – think the Eiffel Tower, Stonehenge etc. The Groom was an avid knitter, so he knitted small bags for the guests which held a small amount of Lego. The Lego inside built a miniature version of the landmark photo attached to the knitted bag, and a QR code next to this photo sent the guest to a webpage with instructions on how to build it.
